With [Advanced Xactimate For Adjusters], we got to prove the value at the end with the Xactimate User Certification Exams, and as it turned out, I was very well prepared for that.
It ended up being kind of anti-climatic and a non-event [taking the exams]. The one thing I missed, I went back and looked and we had covered it. I just didn't remember it. So I thought [the program] prepared us very well!
[Matt] has an interesting speed about him that can bring along a pretty wide variety of skill levels, whether they're just starting or they've been there for a while. He covered everybody, not spending too much time in the weeds with those who were really far ahead, or too much time with those just beginning. You can look all over the internet but you won't find it…which is crazy because everyone deals with insurance, but no one deals with insurance adjusting.
Most people know you get your big break during cat season. But it's sink or swim. (I had one deployment where they sold me on the idea that I would be getting [on the job training], so I flew from Alaska…but 21 days of consecutive working and as far as training goes, there hasn’t been any!)
So training is invaluable! Knowing how to handle a claim, what to expect from start to finish in the claims process, whether that be working from the desk or working in the field….
Even if I forget something, I just go and review the lessons on 2X speed and I remember again.
